Forest Fed Farmstead

Vendor since 2021

We are Matt and Alex and we started Forest Fed Farmstead in 2021 to feed ourselves and our community healthy locally produced food. On our little 2-acre space we have several garden beds that we use to rotate our crops, a small orchard that was planted in 2021, and a fifty foot long high tunnel. We believe in working with nature and not against it at Forest Fed Farmstead, so we don’t use chemical pesticides or herbicides on our farm. We utilize plastic tarps and the chickens to kill off grass and weeds in our new garden plots as well as existing ones between plantings which eliminates the need to use chemicals or roto till. To keep healthy soil we plant cover crops in beds that are not currently in production.

We grow an assortment of seasonal vegetables including, but not limited to, tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, lettuces and baby greens, various root crops and garlic. We also have strawberries available late spring/early summer.

We raise chickens for eggs that are rotated around the farm throughout the year and they always have fresh grass and bugs to enjoy. We also adopted two pygmy goats this year with the hopes of being able to breed them for fresh milk and we have three pigs that we are raising for ourselves and family members. We hope to raise more pigs next year to sell. We look forward to sharing our bounty with you at the 2023 Candia Farmers Market. We hope you’ll stick with us while we continue to grow our little farm.
